Goals for 2007

General

My New Years resolution this year is to quit smoking. I know that'sJob 2.0 Rolling Papers not going to happen, so I'm going to set some real goals for me to achieve in 2007.

I've learned a lot over 2006, and in 2007 I'm going to really go after what I have been trying to achieve for the last 2 years.

Now I know everyone should set a goal to have a million dollars in their bank account by 2008. Some of you may have a million dollars in your bank account. Me, I have 17 cents in my bank account, so a million dollars is a bit out of my reach unless something big happens, so although I ipod on black backgroundwant a million dollars, that's not one of my goals for this year.

My goals for this year:

  • Find a web design related JOB
  • Have a $2,000+ month with Google Adsense
  • Launch a site that reaches an Alexa rank of under 30,000 in 6 months
  • Start taking college classes again
  • Sell a website with a > $10,000 profit
  • Launch a website that gains over 40,000 users by 2008.
  • Steal a new car
  • Steal Half a Million dollars (See, I'm not shooting for a million)
  • Catch a largemouth bass over 8 pounds and mount the fuckr on my wall
What are you goals for 2007?

Those are some nice goals Chris.

One of my main goals is to get ready for your next big blog post!

Also, I'd like to take InstantSpot to a much higher level and try to make it a full time job :) (filed under the "...bit out of my reach unless something big happens..." category)

My goals for this year... Hmm... I would like to say that I have made some resolutions, but I don't want to go against my word. I like to say what I mean and mean what I say. No point in lying to myself now is there? lol

How in the world did i stumble upon this blog? Oh, the wonder, the random poetry of Google Alerts.

So, in the spirit of "when in Rome..."

My goal for 2007 is to live life with my eyes open, so I don't misundestand all I see.

Welcome to InstantSpot laramia! It is always nice to see fresh faces. So... explain the Google Alerts thing if you don't mind. I am always curious to see how people found us.

Thanks Dave -- it's a odd trip-thru. One of the six towns my newspaper covers is Rutherford, NJ ... so I Google Alert all six towns so I can keep on top of everything without having to read every newspaper and website. Rutherford is a popular last name, (and town -- there are many across the world) so I get all kinds of interesting "hits." As an addicted reader/writer, I find it fascinating. I can't read 'em all, but some catch my eye. A random list of people's goals for '07 seemed like it might be a good read ...

Well very cool! I like random pop-ins like that. I hope you enjoy your Spot and help us grow. So as to not hijack Chris' post, I better list my goals. I have two primary ones that immediately come to mind:

1) Like Aaron, my primary goal is to make InstantSpot into our full-time job this year. We have a heck of a lot more fun working on it than our "real" work, and we feel that there is a big future here.

2) Try to better balance all the work with my family. This has been an enormous challenge over the last year as we have tried to build InstantSpot each night after a full-day's work, playing with the kids and getting them to bed, and spending time with my wife. Way too often my family has gotten the short end of the stick.

well, if i can think of ways to promote this, i will. i'm sure it'll come up in an editorial some way or another ... maybe we can backlink our sites and increase eveyone's traffic. my newspaper website is fairly flexible. It's family-owned, all women ... actually, we started a blog area on our website (leadernewspapers.net) but phpNuke had security issues so we couldn't modify it sufficiently, so it doesn't look or feel like a blog, so ... ok this is way off topic. to make a long story short, one thought was to have reporters and readers blog offsite but get to it by first being on our site ... i have no idea if i'm making sense.

That totally makes sense and we would be more than happy to be that "offsite" source! If you want to talk more on this, feel free to contact me using the form on http://daveshuck.instantspot.com

Hey Laramia, that's a really interesting and poetic goal for 2007.

and no, this isn't a private clique, just a lot of American bashers have been showing up on the spot after the posting of the Saddam video so Wendy assumed you meant you wanted to be like us americans :-)
